Books are sensual, but a Kindle gives you very little. No sense of the paratext, nostalgic memory or even decorative potential.


The Ministry

I can see no road signs that can tell me what bit of London I am now in. Tall Victorian walls surround me so I can’t see far ahead. The darkness is thickening like vegetable soup.
