Dear Normal Person

Sometimes I think you don’t quite know what it’s like,
to live with a brain like this.
What’s a joke to you, cuts through my soul.
What’s probably nothing,
Is my world crumbling.
And you can say “Buck up” and “Get a grip!”
But let me tell you its hard to keep a handle on every breath you take,
on every thought you have
“Get a grip?”
Fuck you, I am holding on for dear life every second
Trying to get around a wall of frustration and self damnation
Trying to shut off that little voice that says I’m shit,
that says I don’t deserve love, don’t deserve respect,
Don’t deserve anything.

Let me tell you I fight every day to feel good.
I fight every day to keep a smile on my face.
So don’t tell me to get a grip
Because, dear normal person,
You have no idea what it’s like to be the way we are.
