FAQ: Written Submissions

Do I have to write something specifically for The Re|view?

No. We are quite happy to accept things you wrote years ago and things that have already been published on other blogs.

I already have a blog, can I submit things from that?

Absolutely. We are quite happy to collaborate with other bloggers to give them more exposure. Just submit as usual, and include a link to your site, or you can submit your whole blog using this form.

What would I write about?

This is the question we always get asked. Often people feel a bit nervous about submitting something, which is totally understandable, but The Re|view is all about encouraging everyone to express themselves, whatever their background.

If you are interested, but aren’t sure what to write about, then a good place to start is to think about what you talk about a lot. What do you rant about with your friends? Is there an issue you feel passionately about or a point that you want to make? Did you go travelling and experience something that made you think? Do you live in a country which is in the news and want to provide your perspective on current events? Did you discover a new gadget, website, trend, discovery, and want more people to know about it? Did you write an essay that you found fascinating, or do a dissertation that you could summarise? Are you doing something interesting at work? Is there an idea or political movement that you are interested in that you could summarise? Did you read an article or a book that you want to respond to?

In sum, you can write anything.

I’m still not sure, can I talk to you about something I’m thinking of before submitting it?

Yes! Just email us on helpme@the-re-view.org and we will happily discuss your ideas

How long does it have to be?

A good rule is that shorter is better – you want people to have time to read it! Aim for somewhere between 200 and 1000 words, but its up to you.
